Reluctance to Engage #1

In a wonderful book about quantum physics, I once read that matter is very lazy stuff. When given the option, sub-atomic matter would rather maintain its status quo, and therefore can be described as being "reluctant to engage".

I projected this description onto people, in my portfolio titled "Reluctance to Engage." Are people reluctant to engage? Some definitely are. I certainly felt that way at the time this portfolio was created. In my efforts to create images that show people in their reluctance, I discovered myself unwilling, actually incapable, of stepping into relationships with people, places, and, most importantly, myself. This portfolio, "Reluctance to Engage", is a series of portraits of my own reluctance.
