As implied
in the title "Brooklyn Still-Lifes", all of the objects found
in this portfolio were gathered from Brooklyn sidewalks and abandoned
lots, and photographed in my Brooklyn, NY studio. My response to these
discarded and orphaned objects was first to take them out of the environment
and get them to safety, then to manipulate them, and finally, to photograph
them. In this way, I hoped to transform what others once considered trash
and impersonal into something aesthetically meaningful, and, most importantly,
something personal.
